THE IDEA BEHIND THE LECTURES

MUSIC
LEADS US into
the Overlapping Worlds of Literature, Philosophy, Art, History, Pyschology,
the Natural Sciences and Mathematics |

Music
is like a piece of rope. It takes on meaning only in connection with the things
it holds together.

| LET
US FOLLOW THE ROPE TOGETHER! |
-
As
long as we remember that there is a close relationship between the "ha-ha"
of humor and the "aha!"
of discovery, we will not overreach ourselves. -
As long as we hold onto the rope of music we will not get lost.
|
| WHO
ARE THE LECTURES FOR? |
-
Anyone who
enjoys listening to music and would like to know more about it -
Anyone who enjoys participating
in the lifelong search for pieces that fit into the gaps of our knowledge and
understanding -
No
formal musical background is necessary |
| WHERE
DO THE LECTURES TAKE PLACE? |
-
Groups
of 3 to 6 thematically organized talks are presented in weekly or monthly series,
usually as fund-raisers by Sports Clubs, Libraries and Cultural Centers as well
as for philanthropic organizations such as Hadassah, Wizo, Na'amat, Amit, ESRA
and AACI (Americans and Canadians in Israel). -
Full seminarsof 3 to 6 lectures are offered in concentrated form over 2 or 3 days. -
Daylong mini-seminars
and single lectures can also be arranged. -
One
of the best ways is to gather a group of your own friends together, and to enjoy
the lively discussion that accompanies a lecture in the intimacy of your own home. -
Seminars have been run
in Israel and South Africa for local populations, and have also taken the form
of overseas study-vacations in Moscow, St Petersburg, Paris, Prague, Athens and
Vienna. |
